Adopted AtoM

Wits University — African Rock Art Digital Archive (ARADA)

The African Rock Art Digital Archive and the Rock Art Research Institute at Wits University announced the debut of a new archival system delivered through the open-source AtoM platform in December 2025. ARADA began in the early 2000s with a laboratory established to digitise the institute's collections, which include photographs, digital images, drawings, slides and physical historical documents relating to African rock art. The new system was presented as an open-access route to preserved collections for researchers, students and the public, supporting ARADA's linked aims of preservation, education and digital innovation. Canon South Africa supports the online platform's hardware and software maintenance and development. Because the announcement identifies neither a predecessor platform nor a transfer method, this is properly recorded as an AtoM adoption rather than a documented system migration.
