AEON → AtoM + Archivematica

State Records Office of Western Australia

The State Records Office of Western Australia undertook a three-year migration from the proprietary AEON (BOS) system to AtoM, delivered by Australian provider Gaia Resources, enforcing ISAD(G) compliance across the state's records in the process. In 2016 the office added Archivematica to handle born-digital files, building an integrated access-and-preservation pipeline, and the initial project matured into a long-term enterprise support arrangement. As a state-government archive moving a large, standards-diverse catalogue onto open source — and pairing it with digital preservation — it is a significant Oceania case study.
