bepress Digital Commons → OJS

University of Minnesota Libraries

Recognising the community concern after Elsevier's acquisition of bepress, the University of Minnesota Libraries funded the Public Knowledge Project to develop a dedicated bepress-to-OJS import plugin. The tool ports Digital Commons journal content — mapping article metadata and galley files into an OJS installation — smoothing Minnesota's own migration while giving the wider library-publishing community a free, open-source route out of commercial lock-in. A US example of an institution sponsoring open-source migration tooling to advance the library-as-publisher model.
