Journal of Critical Public Health / University of Calgary
In 2023, members of the Critical Public Health editorial board resigned from Taylor & Francis over the commodification of their scholarship and eroded editorial direction, and launched the Journal of Critical Public Health on OJS hosted by the University of Calgary. The university — which hosts many OJS journals — provided the technical infrastructure for the board to re-establish the publication swiftly under a Diamond Open Access model, severing ties with the commercial publisher while maintaining continuity. A Canadian example of an editorial 'walkout' landing on open-source OJS.
