Center for Jewish History

The Center for Jewish History in New York runs a single, shared ArchivesSpace instance that serves the Center together with its five partner institutions. A defining challenge of that shared model is governance rather than software: controlled vocabularies — agents, subjects and dropdown enumerations — have to be centralised and normalised across independent partners who had catalogued differently for years, while still allowing partner-specific practices. A leading US example of consortial, multi-repository archival description on a shared open-source platform.
