Associated Press Corporate Archives

Ahead of a corporate headquarters move in 2017, the Associated Press Corporate Archives needed intellectual control over some 250 historical artifacts alongside 4,000 linear feet of paper records — data then held in legacy Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. The team assigned unique identifiers and used Office 365 spreadsheets mapped to Dublin Core to establish control, then batch-loaded the cleaned data into ArchivesSpace via its bulk importers, unifying artifacts and paper into format-based record groups. The work also linked images held in the AP's Preservica system. A rare, instructive example of a corporate archive adopting open-source archival management.
