Islandora 7 → Islandora 2

University of Prince Edward Island

The University of Prince Edward Island's Robertson Library — the original birthplace of Islandora — upgraded from Islandora 7 to Islandora 2, consolidating 50-plus sites and roughly 22 TB of data, driven partly by Drupal 7's end of life. Notably, operating with a very small systems team, UPEI chose not to deploy Fedora in the new architecture, using Drupal for data management alongside shared Crayfish microservices for derivative generation — establishing a precedent for streamlined, low-overhead Islandora deployments. A Canadian example of a lean, Fedora-less modern Islandora build.
