Millennium → Koha

University of Pittsburgh, Barco Law Library

Librarians at the University of Pittsburgh's Barco Law Library migrated from the proprietary Innovative Millennium ILS to open-source Koha — and did it in-house, without third-party contractors, using freely available tools. The published case study ('Librarian as Data Migrator') presents an original, repeatable pathway of preparation, export, mapping and upload developed by the library's own staff. It is a notable demonstration that a competent library team can run its own ILS migration without expensive external services — a model especially suited to smaller libraries.
