Penn State — Saudi Cyberfeminist Visual Index (SCVI)

The Saudi Cyberfeminist Visual Index (SCVI), a doctoral research project by Fouz Alzahrani in Penn State's School of Visual Arts, is an open-source, searchable web platform documenting the Saudi Cyberfeminist Movement from 2011 onward. Because the underlying material — social-media artifacts, regional blogs and activist video — is highly ephemeral and vulnerable to deletion or censorship, the project moved beyond ad-hoc manual saving to integrate ArchiveBox, generating durable snapshots of the movement's visual and textual record. To harden the archive against targeted takedowns, the preserved artifacts are also distributed across the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), pairing self-hosted capture with decentralized storage as an active mechanism of digital preservation and resistance.
