Adopted Mukurtu

Plateau Peoples' Web Portal (Washington State University)

The Plateau Peoples' Web Portal is a collaboration between eight Plateau nations and Washington State University's Center for Digital Scholarship, built on the open-source Mukurtu platform. Rather than unilateral academic digitisation, tribes select materials and then practise 'collaborative curation' — appending oral histories, proper descriptions and cultural narratives alongside the clinical metadata supplied by federal museums. The model places community voices on equal footing with institutional curators. A US example of Mukurtu underpinning a university–tribal digital-repatriation partnership.
