Adopted Mukurtu

Huna Heritage Foundation

The Huna Heritage Foundation, an Alaska Native heritage organisation, adopted the open-source Mukurtu platform to steward its cultural materials. Mukurtu's cultural-protocol system lets the foundation manage who may access specific materials in line with community rules rather than a blanket public/private setting. As part of the shared Mukurtu community, the foundation uses the platform to describe and provide appropriate access to ancestral materials and cultural knowledge. A US (Alaska Native) example of adopting Mukurtu to bring cultural heritage online under community-defined access controls.
