Millennium & Symphony → Koha

Khalifa University

Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi used a migration to Koha to unify library systems inherited from its predecessor institutions — KUSTAR, the Petroleum Institute and the Masdar Institute — into a single catalogue. The legacy systems were Innovative Millennium and SirsiDynix Symphony. The library valued Koha's open-source flexibility: local modifications no longer depended on a commercial vendor's often-slow help desk. Delivered in-house by a collaborative IT and library team, it is a substantial Middle Eastern example of consolidating fragmented library systems onto open source.
