Legacy → DSpace

University of Cyprus

The University of Cyprus established E-ViVa, a national Hellenic full-text database on librarianship and information science, built on the open-source DSpace platform. Moving from an older, closed cataloguing environment to DSpace enabled full-text searching, author self-archiving and OAI-PMH-compliant interoperability, greatly increasing the exposure of Hellenic digital content to the wider academic world. An early Cypriot example of using open-source DSpace to modernise a legacy library database into an openly harvestable repository.
