DSpace community → standalone DSpace

Trinity College Dublin (edeposit Ireland)

Trinity College Dublin's edeposit Ireland — the national home for Ireland's born-digital legal-deposit publications — began in 2014 as a community within Trinity's DSpace institutional repository, TARA. Having grown past 21,000 documents, it was migrated to a standalone repository on Atmire's hosted Open Repository (DSpace) platform. Run jointly by Trinity and Atmire, the migration changed the identifier prefix while preserving suffixes so redirects from the old repository keep working, added DOI minting for specific collections, and made it easy for external publishers to log in and deposit. An Irish example of spinning a maturing collection out of a shared IR into its own hosted DSpace.
