Legacy system → CollectiveAccess

Public Record Office Victoria (PROV)

Public Record Office Victoria migrated its archival management from a legacy system to the open-source CollectiveAccess as part of a wider Digital Archive renewal programme, working with the integrator Gaia Resources. Rather than a risky 'big bang' migration, the project used a 'rapid build' approach — establishing a draft installation profile early and running frequent, iterative data imports so curators could test and refine the schema against real workflows. CollectiveAccess was chosen partly for its API extensibility and non-destructive updates. An Australian state-government-archive example of an agile, open-source migration.
