Publica → DSpace-CRIS

Fraunhofer Society

To manage the output of its many distributed institutes, Germany's Fraunhofer Society replaced its legacy 'Publica' repository with DSpace-CRIS, engineered and hosted by 4Science. Fraunhofer needed a system able to model a vast, decentralised applied-research domain, so the new CRIS was built for deep interoperability — integrating with internal HR and identity-management systems as well as external sources like ORCID and bibliometric databases. The migration unified previously siloed institutional data into a central tool to collect, preserve and report on the work of thousands of applied researchers. A major German enterprise-research example.
