DigiTool → DSpace

Curtin University

Curtin University, Western Australia's largest, modernised its 'espace' repository by migrating from the obsolescent Ex Libris DigiTool to a heavily customised DSpace 5 built by Atmire. To prevent link rot and protect hard-won SEO, Atmire engineered a custom resolver that automatically redirects legacy DigiTool identifiers to the new DSpace item pages — a mandatory step when migrating a long-established repository. The project also delivered a responsive, branded theme, with integration to Curtin's Symplectic Elements research-management system planned as a subsequent phase. An Australian example foregrounding URL persistence and careful legacy-identifier redirection.
