CSIRO — National Research Collections of Australia

CSIRO, Australia's national science agency, engaged Gaia Resources to modernise the National Research Collections of Australia (NRCA), selecting the open-source CollectiveAccess after an environmental scan and moving it into production over a staged, agile rollout. The project demonstrated CollectiveAccess handling rigorous scientific collection data — extending the platform well beyond its traditional fine-art and historical-archive use into the natural sciences, where specimen records demand precise, structured metadata. An Australian national-research example of adopting open-source collections management for large scientific specimen collections.
